The jazzy sounds of New Orleans resonated throughout Saks Fifth Avenue for their annual charity initiative and shopping kickoff gala, “Key to the Cure.” 2014 Co-Chairs Therese Badon, Leslie Gottsegen and Amanda Herman helmed an elegant evening with Honorary Chairs Renee Gabriel and Sara B. Stone. The 2014 Corporate Liason was Sue Singer.
The finest entertainment, food and fashion filled all three levels of the store, beginning with Llowen Drum Set and The Cuban Buena Vista Social Club Doppelgangers on the ground level with appetizers from several restaurants, including Galatoire’s famous shrimp remoulade. The Kermit Ruffins Band serenaded partygoers with a trumpet backed by a trio of keyboard, guitar and a drum set as they indulged in entrées from 18 restaurants, including Arnaud’s, Café Reconcile, Dickie Brennan’s Steak House and Mandina’s, to name a few. The Evan Christopher Trio performed on the dessert level, where sweets from Kosher Cajun, Candace’s Cake Balls, Maple Street Café, Maple Street Patisserie, ManhattanJack and PJ’s Coffee decked the floor.
In addition to the plethora of bars scattered throughout the store, guests were enthralled with both palm and tarot card readers, who each offered their services to interested patrons
For five days, the retail giant promised that 2 percent of its sales would be donated to the Louisiana Cancer Research Center to fight women’s cancers.
