The Hope Gala, benefiting the American Cancer Society and their fight against cancer, is one event that keeps cancer survivors and their family members hopeful.
This event was sponsored by gold sponsor Ochsner Health System, Lockheed Martin, Center for Restorative Breast Surgery, East Jefferson General Hospital and silver sponsors Dr. Elizabeth and Mr. Michael Fontham. Lorrie Lee of H Agency and Carla Adams of The Shops at Canal Place both served as chairs.
Angele Romig, who is a recent cancer survivor, was recognized as the Hope Gala’s honorary chair. Several notables received the Hope Gala’s Spirit Award in recognition of their services, including Dr. John S. Bolton, Dr. Wesley W.
Bryan, registered nurse Bernie Cullen, Dr. Frank DellaCroce, Dr. Paul Friedlander, Dr. Renee Gardner, registered nurse Paula Harrelson, Randi Kaufman M.S., registered nurse Heather Monteleone, Dr. Scott Sonnier, Dr. Scott Sullivan and Dr. Marcus L. Ware, many of whom answer to additional titles and practice at hospitals and medical institutions across the greater New Orleans area.
The Bucktown Allstars played live and both live and silent auctions were presented. The live auction “Unmasking Possibilities: An Exploration of Cancer Through Art” featured masks and artwork designed by local artists and based on real-life cancer stories. The silent auction featured vacation packages, fine jewelry, dinners, art by local artists, sports memorabilia and more. Through the auctions and other fundraising for this event, raised $110,000.
More than 20 different venues catered for the Hope Gala including: Rock-n-Sake, Muriel’s Jackson Square, Whole Foods, Acme Oyster House, Chops Bistro & Martini Bar, Tommy’s Cuisine, Besh Steak, Galatoire’s Restaurant, Suave, La Cote Brasserie, Bee Sweet Cupcakes, Bourbon House and Feeling’s Café.
