You don’t have to go to the North Pole to get really ‘cool’ holiday cocktails. Luckily we live in a city full of spirits, where imbibing is a past time. We love it especially during the holidays because so many great bartenders pull out all the creative stops to give us festive fun in a glass.
The Bombay Club (830 Conti St.) – This happy hour is fun and festive everyday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Right now there are four different beer selections for $4 each, five wine selections for $5 each and six $6 specialty cocktails. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the live entertainment after a busy day in the quarter.
Kingfish (337 Chartres St.) – The restaurant is ready for all of the fun the holidays bring. Cocktail specials here are sure to please. From 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. there are half off deals on two specific wine selections, half off beers – including draft varieties – and $6 special cocktails. The cocktail program here is top notch and the team is on top of the cocktail game…especially during the holidays.
Palace Cafe (605 Canal St.) – Right now the team is rolling out the "Temperature Drink." This fun deal runs through Feb. 28. and says the price of the hot cocktail will be determined by the forecasted low for the day. So, if it’s 47 degrees, your drink will be $4.70. So, the colder it is the less you pay. Now, that’s cool. The featured drink at Palace Cafe is a hot toddy, but the team is also rolling out its hot spiced rum created by lead bartender Andrew Bates. The drink is served in a Irish coffee mug and topped with whipped cream and a cinnamon stick garnish. Each Brennan & Co.’s Family of restaurants is offering a special hot cocktail for the holidays. It’s the perfect way to make the most of New Orleans and the cooler temps.
Couvant (315 Magazine St.) Nestled in the Central Business District, inside the Eliza Jane Hotel, Couvant's holiday special cocktail is the Holiday Bourbon Milk punch, made with bourbon, pecan fat, heavy cream and Demerara syrup. The punch is a little on the pricey side for a cocktail, but well worth it. This charming place offers happy hour every day from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. During happy hour you can get 2- for-1 deals on the cocktail menu, beer menu and wine selections. Perfect spot to get cozy and toast to the holidays.
From sleigh rides to spirits, we encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try festive drinks like "Christmosas" and "Jingle Juice." Almost every bar will have a fun vodka, rum or tequila drink for you, you just have to ask. And remember, don’t stand too close to the mistletoe…or do.
