Historic New Orleans Collection Celebrates New Exhibition “New Orleans Musicians in Art”

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – This Wednesday, Nov. 12, guests of the Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC) can enjoy extended hours to celebrate the opening of the museum’s newest exhibition, “New Orleans Musicians in Art,” which features 14 paintings inspired by New Orleans musicians from the museum’s permanent collection.

Guests can experience live music from the Diego Benjamin Delgado Quartet and watch local artist Emilie Rhys draw the event live. Rhys, the daughter of artist Noel Rockmore – whose iconic paintings of New Orleans musicians are featured in the exhibition – will discuss her artistic technique after her drawing is complete.

Attendees can also explore a pop-up shop hosted by Crescent Pennant Company featuring vintage-style, hand-sewn and painted canvas pennants celebrating musical heroes from New Orleans history, including Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton.

All ongoing and changing exhibitions, as well as the Shop and Cafe, will be open for the duration of the event.
