The eighth annual “CHAIRish the Children” benefit for the Louisiana Children’s Museum took place on Aug. 26 and more than 500 people attended the festivities.
The patron party commenced at 6:30 p.m., and a performance by the NOCCA Jazz Ensemble entertained guests, who were clad in summer chic attire. The Orleans Original Jazz Ensemble provided music at the main event.
The party featured silent auction galleries and a live auction. Guests bid on items such as paintings, photographs, jewelry, dining, hotel accommodations, and of course, chairs—and other chair-themed items—created and decorated by a variety of local artists, celebrities, shops and children.
The night’s cuisine was donated by Aramark, Arnaud’s, Café Adelaide, Creole Creamery, GW Fins, Hilton Hotel, Louis XVI Restaurant Francais, the Melting Pot, Muriel’s Jackson Square, N.O. Brew, Pat O’Brien’s, Semolina’s Bistro Italia, the Savvy Gourmet and
Whole Foods.
The benefit raised more than $130,000 for the museum’s
educational exhibits and programs. Capital One, which was the
lead sponsor for the party, also sponsored a traveling exhibit at the museum, “Oh, Seuss! Off to Great Places,” which inspired the evening’s theme and decorations. (The exhibit runs through April 2007.)
