Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, art aficionados gathered at the House of Blues (229 Decatur St.) in downtown New Orleans to enjoy the “Home for the Holidays” concert and auction benefiting the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
Irma Thomas entertained revelers at the patron party, held 6-7:30 p.m. The patron party featured a silent auction, where partygoers bid on items including a football autographed by Eli and Payton Manning, a football jersey signed by Drew Brees and artwork by NOCCA artists including Daniel Price.
The main event began at 7:30 and featured music from some of New Orleans’ most talented artists, including Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers, Rockin’ Dopsie, Troy Andrews & Orleans Avenue, Jonathan Batiste and John Boutté. Lenny Kravitz even stopped by to join the fun!
The event raised roughly $35,000 for the Daniel Price Memorial Fund for Aspiring Artists, which provides scholarships for outstanding visual art and music students at NOCCA.
