All across town there are establishments getting ready for the holiday season. The sound of clinking glasses is loud and clear. We are so excited because that means there are plenty of fun events, tastings and cheer to last a lifetime. Get ready, mark your calendar and let’s take a cocktail journey that we won’t soon forget.
Grande Krewe (2305 Decatur St.) – This month the team is featuring wines for the holidays. The Friday night tasting series will take place Dec. 7 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. They will be featuring international wine and spirits. It will cost you $25 to taste 25 wines and nibble on some small bites. Join the Marigny Krewe as they jumpstart the holidays with fun, sipping and a whole lot of socializing.
Swirl (3143 Ponce De Leon St.) – This wine shop is pulling out all the corks for this months festivities. Friday’s ‘Free For All’ is a free tasting from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and they feature four to five wines from their exclusive collection. There is always a theme for the night and a really good crowd. The fun extends into Saturday, where happy hour is from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and all wines by the glass are half off.
Also, there is a mid week delightful Wednesday flight night. For $15 there is table side pouring of about five select wines from across the region. This is a good time to inquire about the vino, sip and enjoy the holiday cheer.
Faubourg Wines (2805 St. Claude Ave.) – This quaint wine shop specializes in several bottles from small wine producers. Here there are free tastings every Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. They also offer $5 glasses of wine and they even include more than 100 bottles that will cost you less than $15. This cozy spot has a great selection of wines that will impress wine lovers far and wide. Small snacks are available.
