COVINGTON, LA (Oct. 20, 2021) – On Nov. 7, 13 celebrity teams will go head to head in a competitive cook-off to raise money for Children’s Advocacy Center – Hope House at the 9th annual Men Who Cook, presented by the Brooke It Forward Foundation and Cintas. The event will take place from 4-7PM on the rooftop of the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center Parking Garage in Downtown Covington.
Each participating team, comprised of a local leader paired with a top local restaurant, will prepare tastings of a favorite dish for attendees to sample. Teams will compete for the title of Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice and Most Money Raised for Hope House. A list of the 2021 Men Who Cook teams can be found HERE.
Hope House begins and continues the healing process for victims of child abuse. It is the only local agency that provides essential services like forensic interviews and free counseling to victims in St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. The organization is primarily funded through private donations and grants, and Men Who Cook is its largest annual fundraiser.
To maximize the impact of this year’s Men Who Cook donations, the IJN Foundation (In Jesus’ Name) has announced that it will match all donations up to $50K, meaning your donation could count for double!
“In 2020, Hope House served more child abuse victims than in any previous year in our organization’s history. We are on track to surpass that record again in 2021,” says Hope House Executive Director Thomas Mitchell. “The incredible support we’ve received from our community and our sponsors has never been more critical than it is right now. Our Men Who Cook campaign is positioned to raise more money this year than ever before, making a huge impact in the lives of local children who desperately need our help.”
The public is encouraged to participate in pre-event online “tipping” toward their favorite team(s), which will aggregate towards the Most Money Raised for Hope House Award. Donors can also take advantage of special “dine-in deals” – like free coffee, free dessert, or gift certificates – at participating restaurants when they donate on site through November 6. And any individual who donates $50 or more online through Nov. 6 will automatically be entered to win a 5-night Disney vacation! Men Who Cook attendees can also tip their favorite team(s) at the gala on Nov. 7, which will determine the People’s Choice Award. This year’s judging panel for the Judges’ Choice Award consists of Sarah Cottrell, publisher of Edge of the Lake magazine; Jen Meadows, editor of Social Northshore magazine; and Rob Masson, Fox8 news reporter.
The Men Who Cook gala on Nov. 7 will also include a silent auction; live music by Tyler Kinchen & The Right Pieces; and complimentary wine and beer. Event tickets are $70 (single) or $125 (couple) online in advance, or $80 at the door. Event tickets, raffle tickets and tip tickets are available at support.cachopehouse.org/MWC2021.
