How Emma Roberts’ Super Bowl Makeup is Perfect for Brides

Bridal inspiration can strike in the most unlikely of places. For us, it was during the recent Super Bowl LIX weekend in New Orleans. Though nothing screams bridal less than football, we were focused more on the celebrities and their makeup. Actress Emma Roberts, who has worked on multiple projects in the Big Easy, enlisted the help of frequent New Orleans Bride photoshoot makeup artist Meggan Ory of Makeup by Meggan to help with her glam for all of the weekend’s festivities. There was one specific look Ory created that gave us all the wedding feels.

When asked about how the makeup artist came to work with the actress, Ory said Roberts was referred to her by a client and before she knew it she received a text directly from her.

We think that look felt so bridal because Ory said they went for a more minimalist look for the two days she worked with Roberts.

“Emma has very delicate features so instead of covering them with loads of makeup I brought them out with a softer look,” said Ory. “The third day I added a slight smokey touch but nothing over the top as to keep with the softer theme.” Using, she noted, her own My Expensive Skin Cream Foundation by Makeup by Meggan.

Because of the simplicity and classic aspect to the look, we thought it would be just right for brides looking to enhance their natural beauty while still glamming it up for their big day.

“Emma’s looks would be absolutely beautiful for a bride,” said Ory. “Emma did not have on false lashes so that would be my only addition for a bride. I love to enhance a bride’s beauty. When I think of bridal makeup I want to achieve the ‘oh she looks beautiful’ comment…not the ‘did you see her makeup?’ comment. My bridal perfection is having her look the best version of herself not the most dramatic version.”

Kelly here: I love when a bride has a classic makeup look but adds a bit of a pop with a false lash. It gives that glam look without being over the top or too much for a bride that doesn’t normally wear a lot of makeup.

In addition to Roberts’ makeup, we asked Ory what else she’s seeing trending and loving to do herself in wedding makeup. “Liquid and cream blush is everywhere,” said Ory. “While I do love a bouncy creamy cheek, I think we need to put the breaks on the overdone cheek! For Emma, I actually layered my Cream Rouge with my Classic Rouge to give her a harmonious blend of color and longevity.”

Ory has her own makeup line she uses to create looks like the one she did for Emma Roberts or those you’ve seen in the features on the pages of New Orleans Bride. Ory says this year she plans to add two more products to her line. You can find all her makeup at makeupbymeggan.com.
