NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Join InspireNOLA and partners on Saturday, July 29, for the annual Drive-Thru Back to School Backpack and School Supply Giveaway starting at 10 a.m. at McDonogh 35 Senior High School, 4000 Cadillac St.
Families from across the New Orleans area are invited to drive up and receive free school supplies, backpacks, hurricane preparation supplies, and limited laptop computers and gas cards to help students get ready for the new school year.
This free community event is made possible through partnerships with the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Hancock Whitney, Uniforms by Logo Express, the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Wright Gray, New Schools for New Orleans, Congressman Troy A. Carter, Rep. Royce Duplessis, Councilmember Freddie King, Orleans Parish School Board President Olin Parker, Attorney Elroy James, Councilmember Eugene Green, Senator Jimmie Harris, and Rep. Delisha Boyd.
All supplies, including gas cards and laptop computers, will be given on a first-come, first-served basis and while supplies last. Students must be present in the car to receive a backpack.
