When it comes to designing a kitchen or bathroom, is there a creative focus that your designers must consider?
Nicole Ruppel Jones (Senior Designer | Project Development) – At Legend Interiors, functionality takes the cake in the bathroom. Bathrooms have a heavy scope for sure, through and through, and most times are more detail-oriented than an entire kitchen. I always consider the client’s current wish list along with their upcoming future needs. Luckily, there are many options nowadays to achieve a super functional space that is also aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Are there any new trends in kitchen or bathroom design that are particularly exciting?
Ilana Robert (Designer | Project Development) – Texture is a trend I’m seeing more and more, and I absolutely love it. Organic materials, natural stone, handmade tile, and dimensional details add so much depth and interest to not only kitchens and bathrooms, but throughout the entire home. Warm whites, earthy neutrals, natural woods, and warmer stones really make spaces feel more inviting, timeless, and lived-in.

Is there anything specific to New Orleans bathrooms or kitchens that you take into consideration when designing?
Nicole Ruppel Jones – Always. New Orleans brings its own set of beautiful and concerning challenges. Preserving our historic architecture alongside our historic paint colors is essential to last the test of time. Surprises are always in the mix. Some good, some bad. Heavy discussion on the front end about how to deliver materials and products safely without disrupting the house itself is imperative. Logistics and coordination are key. No one wants to walk cabinetry up 100-year-old stairs that are about to fall through! Warehouse District Condominiums come with start and stop working hours, water shut-offs, wall-to-wall neighbors, etc. We always take this into consideration when setting the schedule. Design-wise, I love an old home and all those fun surprises that come along with it. There are so many stories that are waiting to shine through every touch.
