What inspires you in the design of a kitchen or bathroom?
Clients play a central role, as their preferences and functional needs guide the design process. I also draw significant inspiration from my team, appreciating their creative solutions and collaborative spirit while staying engaged with industry trends is crucial. This exposure helps me discover new and innovative designs, products, and solutions, particularly those that might not yet be prevalent in the greater New Orleans area.
In collaboration, how important is communication between the designer and client?
From the beginning, it’s essential for clients to clearly communicate their budget, expectations, and timeline. In turn, designers must be transparent throughout the process to ensure that clients feel heard and their expectations are met.
How did you get your start in design?
My interest in interior design began in childhood, influenced by frequent visits to antique auctions and my mother’s creative design projects. Later I pursued a formal education in interior design, graduating from LSU in May 2018. Shortly after, began working as a junior designer at a local architectural and design firm. When the time came for a new challenge, I eagerly joined the Legend Interiors team.Â
Does designing for the Greater New Orleans region affect your design sensibilities at all?
The unique needs, styles, conditions, and way of life here set it apart from other places like California or New York. What works in those regions might not always be suitable for New Orleans. While it’s important to draw inspiration from around the world, adapting ideas to fit a specific cultural context is essential.
To your mind, what is the benefit of a well-designed space?
In kitchen and bath design, we create innovative solutions that optimize every inch of space, improving performance and incorporating exquisite finishes. Proper storage and thoughtful design can transform daily activities, making them more enjoyable and efficient. Often, the simplest design solutions can have the most significant impact.
