Ashley Hall Interiors has been providing world-class design since 1967. Over the half-century, has the approach to design drastically changed, or are classic instincts evergreen?
Throughout our long history in the New Orleans area, we have witnessed many design trends come and go. From Country French to Mid Century Modern, and even the all-white minimalism (which, I must admit, was our least favorite), we’ve seen it all. However, we are so thrilled to see a revival of classic design with new and exciting twists—what we like to call New Traditionalism. It’s truly an exciting time as we watch older and younger clients alike discover and embrace color, pattern, and antiques with such enthusiasm.
How has Ashley Hall Interiors made strides in outdoor furniture design?
From outdoor living or dining spaces to sunbathing and garden areas, we incorporate outdoor fabrics and furnishings designed to withstand the elements while maintaining the beauty and luxuriousness of their interior counterparts to create beautiful spaces that our clients enjoy year-round.
When designing a space, how important is it to incorporate the client’s personal style and heirlooms in the concept?
We never want anyone to feel they have to purge all the things they love and hold dear, as personal items are a large part of what makes a space special. We like for the room or home to reflect our client and make them feel happy when they enter it. There are many ways to get to beautiful, and as a rule, we never like to call it finished until we are jealous of what we’ve created.
FUN FACT
Our predecessor and founder, Joe Morrow, was actually best friends with Harry Connick Sr, long-time New Orleans District Attorney and father of Grammy Award winner Harry Connick Jr. It was at Joe’s parties that Harry Connick Jr. would begin his performances at the age of five, playing his piano to the delight of his guests.
