How does your unique background as an architect in Argentina influence your design instincts with Val Spaces?

My architectural training in Argentina shaped the way I approach interiors from both a structural and emotional perspective while also exposing me to a culture that is expressive with color, texture, and layered materials, which naturally influences the warmth and personality I bring into my work.

As an avid crafter and painter, do you feel like a well-designed space should have a tactile identity?

A well-designed space should engage more than the eye; it should have a tactile identity that people can feel the moment they interact with it. To find that tactile identity, I start by understanding how the client wants the space to feel emotionally and functionally. From there, I identify a few anchor textures that set the tone.

Is it more useful to have complete creative freedom or to be working within the constraints of a client’s vision?

Complete creative freedom can be exciting because it allows exploration and experimentation without limits. However, design exists to serve people, not just ideas, and a client’s vision introduces real-world context—how they live, what they value, how the space needs to function. Those parameters sharpen decision-making and often lead to more meaningful, tailored outcomes.

What is a recent project that you are especially proud of?

We recently converted an underutilized basement that had primarily been used for storage into a fully livable, design-forward environment that evolved into one of the most frequently used areas of the home. Projects like these are especially rewarding because they demonstrate how thoughtful design can fundamentally change how people experience their homes—turning overlooked or challenging areas into spaces that truly support everyday living.

FUN FACT

I genuinely enjoy the construction side of design and the challenge of developing custom solutions. My architectural background helps me understand how things are built, which allows me to collaborate closely with builders and contractors—sometimes more closely than they might prefer—and create highly tailored elements that are both creative and practical to execute.
