Interview with Project Runway's Chloe Dao

Winner of Project Runway 2 will be having a fashion show May 16 at Republic

Chloe Dao, winner of Project Runway 2 in 2006 made a stop in New Orleans on Saturday, May 16 to host a fashion show at Republic to benefit TheACY.org.  We got a chance to chat with her about fashion, charity and shopping before the show:

What have you been up to since Project Runway?
I  have been very busy. I launched the wholesale line, DaoChloeDao, which is now being carried by other boutiques in the U.S. There is also my Simply Chloe Dao line for QVC. I just did the two years anniversary show. I am designing laptops and cell cases for Nuo Technology.  It is in Office Max presently.  I was  an  FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) fashion designer critic this year for the Associate Designs degree.  I am also designing a scarf for Think Pink, a breast cancer fundraiser and I’m doing other charities.

How/Why did you get involved with TheACY.org?
If I am available for a charity and it is a good cause, I usually do it.

What trends do you see for this upcoming summer?
Crazy, amazing, over-styled shoes. The higher the better.

What’s your own personal #1 fashion rule?
Keep it very clean and simple. No fuss dressy.

What’s your go-to outfit for a miscellaneous night-out?
My little black dress with braided and nude stretch insert.

In New Orleans, we have entire events dedicated to white linen and seersucker. If you could pick a fabric to dedicate a night to, which would it be?
Black rayon with spandex. Everyone will look  good!

What "normal person" store do you like to shop at?
Zara, my all time favorite.
