The premier fundraising effort for the Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses took place on November 12 at the home of Michael B. and Virginia White, with catering by Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group. Guests sampled delights from Bacco, Ralph’s on the Park and the Redfish Grill and sipped cocktails in an elegant atmosphere.
Chaired by Ethel Clay and Marilee Hovet, the Historic Houses Society Fall Gala honored its members, all of whom are dedicated donors who seek to support the preservation and educational programs of these two iconic French Quarter homes and museums.
The Hermann-Grima house, which is located on 820 St.
Louis St., is a Federal mansion with a courtyard garden and an 1830s outdoor kitchen, which was once owned by a prosperous Creole family.
The Gallier House, which is located at 1132 Royal St., was has a Victorian design and was built in 1857 by esteemed New Orleans architect, James Gallier Jr.
Both houses serve as important reminders of the rich history of the New Orleans French Quarter.
