Saturday, February 27, was a Disco Throwback at “SweetArts,” a Contemporary Arts Center fundraiser supporting its year-round programming in visual and performing arts and arts education. The annual gala recognizes those who have contributed to the New Orleans arts and culture community. This year the CAC fêted Philanthropist Françoise Billion Richardson, Visual Artist Jacqueline Humphries, Performing Artist CCH Pounde, and Arts Educator Jill Basile Hitchins.
The attire was “1970s Chic,” paying homage to the art, culture and energy of the decade in which the CAC was founded. The more than 475 guests were led into the warehouse for the main event, where Anaïs St. John performed an unforgettable night of dancing to 1970s soul and disco hits with her Donna Summer Tribute show.
