It’s a Tailgate Date
Local restaurants combine to create a tailgate at home menu
Over the past year, dealing with the coronavirus and navigating staying at home, Let Them Eat Cake has given readers a few date nights in options. But, now it’s football season and though we can’t all cheer at home in the Dome, that doesn’t mean we can’t amplify our at-home experience.
Recently, we received press updates from a few local restaurants putting together a tailgate at home food menu for Saints fans. But we thought why not take this menu and make it a date day/night with your partner?
The ultimate menu includes an artichoke dip appetizer from Willa Jean with three cheeses (Kelly here: yes, please!) and topped with Willa Jean hot sauce. Follow up with two main dishes from Picnic Provisions & Whiskey and Le Petit Bleu. Picnic is now known for their crawfish hot fried chicken, so of course that’s on the menu. These chicken thighs are served with Picnic’s Chrystal Hot Sauce pulp crust and served with white miso mayo on the side. Le Petit Bleu, Commander’s Palace’s new to-go shop, offers a to-go classic muffaletta, made with cheeses, soppressata and olive salad.
Each of these restaurants also offer delicious to-go dessert options, like Willa Jean’s famous chocolate chip cookies, Picnic’s bonfire brownie s’more and Le Petit Bleu’s Creole cream cheese cheesecake. (Kelly here: honestly, you could just get these and have a super sweet dessert date.)
And don’t forget, now New Orleans restaurants can offer to-go drinks, so take advantage of special cocktails, like Picnic’s frozen adult beverages, to help add a little pop to the tailgate date.
These are just a few of the amazing offerings both these and most New Orleans restaurants are making available to customers for takeout. Whether it’s day or night, support local restaurants and take-out the perfect date menu for one-on-one time with your significant other.
The New Orleans Saints play the Detroit Lions in Detroit Sunday, Oct. 4, at noon. Watch on Fox WVUE 8 or listen in at WWL 105.3 FM/870 AM; Spanish KGLA 105.7 FM/830 AM.
