JAMNOLA Announces JAMFest, a Celebration of New Orleans Art, Music, Food and Festivals

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – There is nothing like New Orleans festival season. It’s one of the best times of the year to enjoy all of the art, music and food New Orleans has to offer. With spring festivals delayed this year, JAMNOLA, the cultural funhouse in the Marigny, invites you to come and enjoy one of the best shows in town. April 21 through May 2, JAMNOLA will launch JAMFest featuring new installations, weekend arts & crafts vendors, festival food vendors at Press Street Station and new merchandise, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting local nonprofits.

JAMNOLA is a proud sponsor of WWOZ’s Jazz Festing in Place. JAMFest will be streaming the “Festing in Place” broadcast, with Jazz Fest performances recorded over the past five decades, for guests to groove to while in JAMNOLA and enjoying food and craft vendors outside.

New Art: JAMNOLA continues its support of local artists with the introduction of two new limited-edition exhibits.

The team will welcome new limited-edition installations from current JAMNOLA artists Josh Hailey and Jessica Strahan. Hailey will create three collages that will pay tribute to New Orleans festivals. The large collages will also be auctioned off after JAMFest concludes. Strahan will create large wood cut outs in the likeness of famous New Orleans musicians.

If you’ve been to Jazz Fest, it’s likely you’ve appreciated the artist signage on each stage. The maker of this iconic signage, Nan Parati, will create custom signs in all 12 exhibits at JAMNOLA.

In addition to the “Festing in Place” broadcast, George Porter Jr., best known as the bassist for The Meters, will put together a curated festival playlist of live recordings from some of the best local musicians.

Get Your Fest Food: New Orleans festivals are known for their food as much as they’re known for music. JAMNOLA will host well-known festival food and drink vendors at a take-out style food court at NOCCA Institute’s Press Street Station on Friday and Saturday of both JAMFest weekends. Food available for purchase includes dishes from well-known New Orleans festival staples like Dana and Christina Honn’s Carmo, AJ’s Sno- Balls, as well as tasty beverages like CoolBrew Coffee and Rosemint Ice Tea. Final details and vendors list, including how to order, will be posted on www.jamnola.com on Monday, April 19.
