JAMNOLA to Unveil New Exhibit at Event Celebrating Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – JAMNOLA, New Orleans’ cultural funhouse and immersive art experience announces the debut of its latest exhibit, “The Brass and The Beat.” This exciting unveiling will coincide with Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph’s appointment as JAMNOLA’s Music Ambassador at an exclusive event taking place at the museum on Tuesday, April 23, from 6-9 p.m. The exhibit will be available to JAMNOLA ticket purchasers to experience starting Thursday, April 25.

Locals can enter for the chance to win a set of tickets to attend this exclusive event by following @Jam.Nola and sharing their favorite JAMNOLA post featuring Jelly to their stories using the #jellyandjam hashtag. Ten winners will be selected at random and announced via JAMNOLA’s instagram stories on Monday, April 22, at 12 noon CST.

To celebrate her role as Music Ambassador, the exhibit will showcase a new portrait of Jelly created by artist Ayo Scott, rendered on bamboo shutters and framed by curtains, creating the illusion of a window shade masterpiece. “Jelly,” a talented singer and songwriter, has been a part of the New Orleans music scene for over a decade and has performed with artists such as Galactic, Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, HaSizzle, Cimafunk and was recently featured in the remake of Roadhouse.

“The Brass and The Beat” exhibit will be replacing the museum’s “Makin’ Groceries” installation and pays homage to New Orleans’ iconic brass bands and musicians celebrating their profound influence on the city’s musical heritage.

In this new themed section of the museum, visitors will encounter the Brassarium—an interactive musical terrarium curated by native New Orleanian artist and teacher Marcus Brown. This fun, new exhibit for the museum invites guests to “play” its brass instruments via custom interactive technology.

Visitors can learn more about the history and evolution of brass bands through the exhibit’s accompanying microsite. The new installation also features a portrait of master bass player George Porter Jr. by artist Carl Joe Williams.
