NEW ORLEANS (press release) – To assist local musicians, Muses is sponsoring the Band Together Online Benefit Festival. On Saturday, April 25 at 3:00 (which would have been during Jazz Fest), a who’s who of musical acts will be holding an online benefit (all playing from a safe distance, of course). You can stream the music and donate directly to the musicians here.
Muses also supports Feed the Front Line Nola, the charity formed by the Krewe of Red Beans to buy meals from local restaurants (helping keep them afloat) to feed healthcare workers.
Please also consider giving your time by volunteering to deliver meals to home-bound people in need. Hands on New Orleans is serving thousands of meals per week to seniors and those with disabilities who can’t safely leave their homes during the crisis, and they have developed a safe and contact-free way to make this happen. It only takes a couple of hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Crafty Muses, please check out Sew Dat. This site was created by the New Orleans City Council and the Mayor’s Office to solicit donations of badly-needed cloth face coverings for non-medical, essential employees including bus and taxi drivers, volunteers at food pantries, and meal distribution centers, and employees of grocery stores and restaurants.
