NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Registration is now open for the Walk/Run Through History, hosted by Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in partnership with New Orleans Running Systems, Inc. (NORSI).
On Sunday, March 29, runners, power and leisure walkers alike will participate in the nation’s largest cemetery race located on the grounds of Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery. This year will mark the event’s 19th anniversary and race proceeds will benefit local non-profit Save Our Cemeteries, dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and protection of New Orleans’ historic cemeteries through restoration, education and advocacy.
Following the races, participants can enjoy festivities next to the funeral home with an awards ceremony, music from local DJ, and food and beverages provided by local sponsors Martin’s Wine Cellar, Cold Stone Creamery, Kentwood Springs Water, Crescent Crown, Capitol City Produce, Nola Snow Snoballs and more. All race finishers will receive a custom commemorative race t-shirt and pin.
Entry fees start at $30 and will increase after March 1. Discounted pricing is available for youth and seniors. Registration will be available on race day starting at 7:30 a.m. The Walk/Run Through History is an official race event of the New Orleans Challenge Series, part of NORSI.
