A sparkling holiday party, previewing Celebration in the Oaks, was held on Nov. 16 at the New Orleans Botanical Garden. Guests turned out by the dozens and danced to Rockin’ Dopsie; they also dined on cuisine from various local restaurants.
A walking tour of the garden was held and guests were filled with delight when they caught a glimpse of the famous Mr. Bingle, a longtime favorite holiday character. To further enhance the spirit of the holidays, a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree was unveiled, causing gasps of merriment. Over the course of the next few weeks, Celebration in the Oaks drew in locals and tourists by the thousands, who marveled at the lights, decorations and the beautiful City Park.
