Jefferson Performing Arts Society’s Leading Ladies Guild hosted its “Promenade Luncheon” on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Metairie Country Club.
The theme “Queen for a Day,” patterned after the 1950s TV show, encouraged attendees to wear tiaras and featured an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favorite queen. The luncheon featured contests for the Best Royal Ensemble and Best 1950s Ensemble. As an unofficial finale to the event, Longtime friend of JPAS Sandra Thompson Herman was crowned a Queen for a Day, and was presented with flowers, a tiara and a flowing royal cape. Guests cheered as Queen Sandra took her promenade around the room.
Entertainment was provided by Suzanne Scott and Byron Scott, accompanied by pianist Jim Walpole. There were also special prizes available for bidding in a silent auction and wine raffle.
Proceeds were donated to the 42-year-old JPAS to continue its work with youth and seasonal offerings.
