Judge mulls drilling ban's enforceability

NEW ORLEANS, June 22 (UPI) — A federal judge in New Orleans could rule this week whether to lift the government’s moratorium on deep-water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, officials said.

U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman said he will announce his decision either Tuesday or Wednesday on whether he will issue a preliminary injunction against the six-month ban that bars drilling in more than 500 feet of water and prevents new permits from being issued, CNN reported…
