Julie Lea is co-founder of the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, New Orleans' newest all-female Mardi Gras organization. Julie explains why an all-women Krewe is so special for the ladies who are members. According to Julie, "There are 10 to 60 ladies per float." As locals and visitors alike know, Mardi Gras throws are a key part of every Mardi Gras parade. For its inaugural appearance, the Krewe of Nyx will feature hand-painted and lighted throws, plus a special surprise throw that Julie is keeping top-secret. The 2012 Krewe of Nyx parade will make its debut in Uptown New Orleans on Wednesday, February 15 at 7pm behind the Druids parade. Listen here!
