Each One Save One is an incredible organization that teams a child with a caring mentor who is there for them as a role model and to help with their education. The magazine is honored to feature EOSO co-founder Cathy Harris, and mentors Arnold Fielkow and Leigh Wilson with their mentees, James Sam and Kendrick Brumfield. The fund-raiser is July 27, and starts with a golf tournament in City Park, then a gala at the Wyndham Canal Place Hotel. The organization always needs new mentors who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Who else is a mentor? I think you probably know EOSO co-founder, Sally-Ann Roberts of WWL-TV/Channel 4—she mentors 10 young girls.
Just in time for Father’s Day, I can’t wait for you to read about our fabulous dads: Gordon Kolb, Tom Beh and Mark Samuels. They are great men who are very successful in their careers, but still have time to be exceptional fathers. And if you’re looking for just the right gift, “What’s Hot” has an appealing mix for either the traditional or hip dad.
Check out my entertaining column which is about a pool party for your favorite 8 to 10 year old girl. Great ideas for cooling off and decorating for the young set—and for adults, if you so wish. Luis Colemenares created the foam flowers for this year’s Bank One Zoo-To-Do. I bought one as a decoration for the pool.
Speaking of time by the pool, we all want to look good right now, so turn the page to “Seasonal Salvation.” It will give you some hints on how to feel and look amazing in the hottest time of the year, as well as how to maintain that chic summer glow year-round.
There’s a new collection of chic women’s clothing called the Charity Collection … Dressing to Suit a Cause. It’s the incredible idea of Sonya Leathers, who is bringing awareness to AIDS, breast cancer, diabetes, lupus and leukemia by offering a line of clothing that has an awareness ribbon incorporated in the design. Ninety percent of the proceeds go directly to a charity. Each gown, suit, jacket, dress and more fashionable items can be seen by contacting Sonya at 710-2483. Be a part of the next movement in charity awareness and compassion.
Once you get your new outfits, you’ll need an exceptional dry cleaning company. Thomas Dean III owns Airline Drive Cleaners (3640 Airline Dr.), which is a full-service company that values customer service the most. They dry clean everything, including wedding dresses, leather and beaded outfits. There’s even a repair and shine for shoes, as well as free pick-up and delivery. Call 832-0024—Mr. Dean can’t wait to hear from you!

Have a great summer! •
