NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The New Orleans Alumni Chapter of the Southwestern Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. will hold its 2024 National Founders’ Day in New Orleans Jan. 5-7.
Throughout the weekend, the fraternity will hold various philanthropic events addressing critical needs affecting the residents of New Orleans.
Among those events is a food giveaway that will provide over 500,000 meals to New Orleans Families at the New Orleans Mission on Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m. At this same event 1911 pairs of socks will also be distributed. Socks are the most requested but least donated items at homeless shelters. The goal is to bring some comfort to those in need by providing a clean pair of socks through this generous donation.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has also partnered with Christopher Homes to donate 300 blankets for its residents at St. Martin Manor on Jan. 5 at 10:30 a.m.
“We are so grateful to be able to hold our Annual National Founders’ Day in New Orleans this year. Our brothers will enjoy a weekend of fellowship but more importantly, we will be giving back to this community,” said Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Jimmy McMikle.
“It is the mission of Kappa Alpha Psi to participate in community outreach activities to feed the homeless, provide scholarships to young people matriculating to college, serve as mentors to young men, participate in blood drives, and serve as hosts of seminars for public health awareness,” said State Representative and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Member Jason Hughes.
