NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The inaugural Gathering of the Queens honors those women who have reigned as Queen Yolande d’Aragon in the Krewe of Jeanne d’Arc parade, which rolls annually Jan. 6, will take place Aug. 12.
The Queens, New Orleans community leaders, were selected because of their dedication to mentoring and inspiring young women. They include Betsie Gambel, Mary Beth Romig, Simone Bruni, Kristen Palmer, Camille Whitworth, Sandra Dartus, Liz Williams and Margarita Bergen.
In celebration of Queen Yolande’s birthday Aug. 11, the former queens will gather in homage to the legendary woman who is credited for funding Joan of Arc’s army.
