After a globetrotting life that started in New Orleans before tracing her path through the University of Texas, Tokyo, and New York City, Taryn Brown returned to her birth city with her six-year-old daughter to help contribute to the city she loves. A former Division I basketball player, Taryn worked in New York City as a basketball coach and political fundraiser before pivoting to law in 2005, just as Hurricane Katrina struck. Undeterred, she joined the first Tulane Law School class post-storm, later launching a high-powered legal career back in New York at Akin Gump and Baker McKenzie, leading complex M&A deals from FedEx to SpaceX. Now, as Chief Legal Officer of Delta Utilities — a $1.7 billion corporation headquartered in New Orleans — Taryn is bringing her expertise to help drive the city’s next wave of economic strength. Drawn to the company’s sharp, high-performing culture and her brilliant colleagues, Taryn believes Delta Utilities will help energize the region’s next era.
