Looking at her résumé, most people would see Andrea Jones as an entrepreneur; one who has founded several organizations and actively been a part of making New Orleans a better, happier, and healthier place to live. Through it all, Andrea sees her mission as one that has grown to encompass a simple idea: that no child should be constrained by their economic circumstances, that opportunity should be universal, and education is the means of finding fulfillment in life. Thus began The Jones Academy For Girls, the culmination of her life’s work, a private education institution that breaks down barriers to quality education and empowers girls with the tools they need to succeed.
“I’ve never been interested in building businesses. I’ve always been interested in building solutions,” says Andrea. “Through years of working in behavioral health, I watched trauma and lost opportunity repeat themselves across generations. That’s what led to my belief that “If we raise healthy little girls, we won’t have to heal broken women.” That philosophy is the foundation of the Academy.”
By intentionally investing in girls early, through education, confidence enrichment, and emotional mentorship, Andrea’s work through the Jones Academy For Girls has kickstarted a change in trajectory for entire families. Reopening again in 2027, the Jones Academy For Girls is returning stronger, more focused, and more effective than ever; a continuation of a vision that will change the lives not only of the students, but their families and community as well.
