Maxwell Williams is Artistic Director for Le Petit Théâtre Du Vieux Carré, located—of course—in New Orleans’ French Quarter. On March 16, 2016, Le Petit Théâtre turned 100 years old. In 1922, the little theatre moved to its new home at 616 St. Peter Street, where it continues to operate today. In this podcast, Williams shares some of the early history of Le Petit and the French Quarter, and gives us a look into the beginning of theatre in the United States. He talks about the spirit of theatres and explains how special Le Petit is. “Theatres are like sanctuaries to me”, he notes. Williams also discusses the remaining performances planned for this year and describes the schedule for next season.
