NEW ORLEANS (press release) – What’s bubbly, beautiful, and makes any occasion special? Champagne, which has been tickling noses and delighting palates since the monk Dom Pérignon invented it in 1693.
On Global Champagne Day, October 28, Brennan’s is bringing its unique sparkle to the occasion by offering 3 Classes at 9 a.m., Noon, and 3 p.m., led by “Master of Sabrage,” the General Manager of Brennan’s, Christian Pendleton. He will personally teach participants how to saber a bottle of Champagne – then, that bottle of bubbly will be Brennan’s compliment to the guest and may be enjoyed in the courtyard. Each attendee will also receive a Certificate upon completing the class.
Pendleton, the only person in the state of Louisiana certified by the Confrerie du Sabre d’Or to teach people how to safely and properly saber Champagne, will lead the charge. He has been invited to Champagne, France, this November 2022, to receive the official documents – donning the signature green velvet “chapeaux” with a featherweight plume, which he will wear proudly when duty calls in the courtyard of Brennan’s. Some may also know Pendleton from the viral video, Easter 2020, when he traipsed down Royal Street in a white bunny suit, sabering a bottle of champagne.
After the class, stay and savor dishes by Executive Chef Ryan Hacker, who was recently recognized as a “Rising Star” by StarChefs; and, the New York Times recently proclaimed Brennan’s as one of the “50 Places in America We’re Most Excited About Right Now” in “THE RESTAURANT LIST 2022.”

Champagne and Brennan’s are such a natural fit that a happy hour was named after it! Bubbles at Brennan’s invites guests to sample a variety of champagnes at half the price and features a champagne sabering on Thursday – Sunday at 5PM. During the month of October, $5 from each bubbly bottle of the happy hour will benefit American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink Louisiana campaign, of which Pendleton is an avid supporter and has his fair share of pink clothing! It’s also the perfect opportunity to sample the custom labeled champagne for Brennan’s by Delamotte, one of the oldest champagne houses in France.
