In 1854, Ambrose Leitz, a German immigrant, opened a cabinet shop two blocks from the Mississippi River. When demand for coffins grew, Mr. Leitz started what would become the oldest family-managed funeral services company in New Orleans. For six generations, parents from the Leitz family, and later the Eagan family, have taught their sons and daughters the traditions of caring for and meeting the special needs of families in their time of grief. Today, the Leitz-Eagan’s legacy lives on through the family’s relationships with the community. They are a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral and cremation service providers, assuring quality, value, caring service and exceptional customer satisfaction.
