The gallery will hold receptions for the shows Jan. 9 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. in order to follow Safe Reopen protocols. Masks are required. LeMieux Galleries’ is open Monday- Saturday from 10:30-5:00 and by appointment. The shows will remain on view through Feb. 27.

“Louisiana Now,” features new oils, watercolors and pencil drawings by octogenarian Shirley Rabe Masinter. Her work applies vivid hyper-realist aesthetic to scenes of Louisiana. Masinter’s paintings and drawings capture the unique character of the state through its architecture, its corner stores, bars and shotgun houses.

Kathryn Keller’s “Beautiful Isolation” is a selection of works created on Inglewood Farm in Alexandria, Louisiana. Inglewood Farm is the largest organic farm in the state of Louisiana. Her scenes of life on the farm take on new meaning during a pandemic. The isolation has given Keller more time to paint but has also kept her away from family and friends. Her most recent works were also impacted by Hurricane Laura and other storms that had very drastic and lasting impacts on much of central Louisiana.
