Let’s Get to Business

Phyllis M. Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Energy and chairman and president of the philanthropic Patrick F. Taylor Foundation, orchestrated Junior Achievement’s annual “Business Hall of Fame,” held at the Roosevelt New Orleans on May 16. To begin the dinner festivities, members of the Business Hall of Fame in attendance were introduced in procession style by class year, escorted by fourth grade students from Lafayette Academy Charter School. Recognized for their outstanding entrepreneurial achievements, each of the night’s honorees – Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints, Jose Suquet, CEO of the Pan-American Life Insurance Group, Michael H. Rodrigue, owner of Acme Oyster House, Patrick J. Quinian, CEO of Ochsner Health Clinic Foundation & International Services, and Roy A. Glapion, Senior Vice President of Professional Service Industries, Inc. – was featured in a video tribute and introduced by a fellow Hall of Fame laureate.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to the legendary Dr. Norman C. Francis.
The event’s menu boasted an arugula and watermelon salad with champagne watermelon vinaigrette. The main course included an indulgent petit filet mignon with pinot noir reduction and gratin potatoes. Pianist Phillip Melancon provided dinner music. Beautiful spring floral arrangements designed by The Plant Gallery included antique green hydrangeas, milva roses, purple stock and yellow irises adorned tables and the stage.

All proceeds raised by the event benefit Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans, which works with the city’s youth to encourage entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
