Lifesaving Lessons

Master of ceremonies Dr. Luis Gabriel Uribe and event chair Angela Westbrook were part of an elegant evening party to raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana. Held April 14 at the Sheraton Hotel, partygoers  at the “Gift of Life Gala” commenced their night by sipping cocktails and bidding in a silent auction, which showcased a wine dinner for four at Dominique’s and a two-night stay at Maison Dupuy; original art by Greg Giegucz; and other enticing items. Later, guests enjoyed a buffet with wine pairings and live music performed by Brother Keyle and the Funky Beans. The Julio Figueroa Award, presented by Dr. Figueroa himself, was given to Dr. Trevor From, who helped the affiliate “meet its mission by providing long-standing participation, exemplary service and outstanding leadership.”

The National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana’s mission is to prevent kidney and urinary tract disease, and to improve the health and well being of individuals and families of those who are affected.
