Lighting Ceremony to Honor January 1 Bourbon Street Victims

Bring Seasonal Light to Bourbon Street

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – City and state leaders, local partners, and the creative team behind Second Line in the Sky will come together for the official lighting ceremony of a new temporary memorial and artistic lighting installation. Spanning the first three blocks of Bourbon Street, Second Line in the Sky honors the victims of the January 1 tragedy through a glowing canopy of 822 prayer flags and illuminated Second Line–inspired motifs.

Designed to coincide with the holiday season, the installation blends remembrance with renewal, transforming one of New Orleans’ most iconic corridors into a warm, uplifting display of community, artistry, and light. Speakers will highlight the significance of the memorial, the families it honors, and the collaborative artistic process that made this project a reality.

Scheduled speakers include:

• Katy Casbarian, Project Visionary & Lead Collaborator; Co-owner, Arnaud’s Restaurant
