Lil WeezyAna Fest Saturday
Tomorrow Lil Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest returns for its fifth installment. This year the festival is moving from its original home at Champions Square to the grounds of the UNO Lakefront Arena. This shift will allow for larger stages and much more space. In addition to the man himself, this year the festival will also feature Travis Scott and Meek Mill as well as Trey Songz, Kash Doll, Megan Thee Stallion and more. Travis Scott laid down an absolutely amazing heading set at Voodoo last year you can check it out below.
Lizzo at The Fillmore Saturday and Sunday
This Saturday and Sunday the incomparable Lizzo holds down the Fillmore for two nights. She is celebrating the success of her latest record Cuz I Love You – the single “Truth Hurts” just hit number one on the Billboard charts this week. Lizzo has been on a tear this year and if you get the chance you’ll want to see one of these shows.
Empath Rock Gasa Gasa
Last week, Philly based experimental noise rock ensemble, Empath came to Gasa Gasa. What impresses me about this group is extremely proficient intensity of their sound. They have an intentional disregard for traditional song that begins with the deconstruction of what we recognize as pop. This combination of the expected and novel surges out at the audience through a tightly knit series of transitions that keeps the flow of the performance going. Keep an eye on this group, we’ll be hearing a lot more from them.
