Ready to venture out into the world? Still have reservations about – making reservations? Both points are understandable. For one, it’s hard to identify when, exactly, the weekend begins. We’re here to help. Whether you’re masked up and ready or more likely to watch from the comfort of your own home, this is your guide to what’s happening this weekend! All options below feature activities that promote safe social distancing. Don’t let quarantine life get you down and meet up with friends for a bike ride or a paddle or watch a live show from your living room.
5/27: Women Crush Wednesday Bike Ride: Now is the perfect time to get back on your bike! Bike Lafayette’s WCW rides around the city are back! This Wednesday’s ride entails a casual 10-mile jaunt for all levels. Helmets, lights and some social distancing will be required. Attendees will meet at Café 20.3 on the Bayou at 5:30 to hit the road at 6 p.m.!
5/28: Lobster Night: The Petroleum Club, appropriately located near the oil center on Pinhook Road, has been a Lafayette institution since the city move from agriculture to oil. This Thursday, the club is taking advantage of the encouraged limited seating with a four-course meal! Tickets start at $50 per person. 5/29: Dustin Sonnier & The Wanted: Can’t decide if you want to mask up and show up or stay in your pajamas? Local country-rock act Dustin Sonnier & The Wanted will take the stage – and the livestream — at the new downtown eatery, Ye Olde College Inn Steak & Bank Bar, this Friday night! To maintain social distancing, the College Inn requests attendees make a reservation at the restaurant ahead of time. If you can’t make it, the show will be livestreamed from Rock’n’Bowl will screen the show on Facebook live! The show will run from 7:30-9 p.m.
5/29: Sunset Kayak Rentals On-Site at Lake Martin: Pack & Paddle is ready to bring its wares directly to you this Friday from 4-7 p.m. No need to stop by the shop on your way to the lake! Pack & Paddle will have kayaks and paddles ready to go for a three-hour wade into the waters. A one-person kayak rental is $35, and two-person kayak rental is $45. Paddlers will meet at the Nature Conservancy Launch.
5/30: Saturday Farmer’s Market: Market Eatz in Broussard is bringing the Farmers’ Market back this Saturday! From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., market shoppers can acquire local meats, herbs and vegetables from Market Eatz’s outdoor patio. The specialty market also has items available for curbside pick-up, takeout, and delivery.
