For years, Copper Vine Wine Pub, and now inn, has been a popular spot amongst Saints revelers, wine enthusiasts and those simply looking for a trendy night (complete with great food) out in the city’s Central Business District.
But recently, the wine pub added to its offerings when it completed work on an inn attached to the back of the bar and restaurant.
Opened in September, the new inn boasts 11 guestrooms – five standard king, two corner kings, two double queens, one ADA-compliant comfort king and a beyond-stunning terrace suite – all available for revelers, enthusiasts and brides and grooms alike.
Not only did the restaurant debut the new inn, but it now also sports a few new upgrades to its dining layout. The first floor received an extended dining area, along with a Garden Room, that is exactly where you want to be on all these nice days we’ve been having in the city lately. The second floor now includes Maylie’s Living Room, which hosts inn dwellers and has the potential to be transformed for private events, as well as the Jasmine Room, which seats 18 guests.
Though we are already fans of the team behind Copper Vine – which includes President and CEO Kyle Brechtel and Executive Chef Amy Mehrtens – the first thing we thought when touring the new updates and inn (designed by architect Jennie West of Studio West) was how it felt made for brides and grooms.
At the time of our tour, most of the standard rooms were occupied, but we were able to view the Inn’s new Terrace Suite, the largest of the rooms, and basically a small apartment above Copper Vine. Not only will the exposed brick of the 19th century building look stunning in photos, but the layout will have the entire bridal party, plus a hair and makeup team, fitting comfortably. And while a shower might not necessarily be paramount in decision-making when it comes to where you’re getting ready for your wedding, the Terrace Suite’s shower room is a showstopper and had us wanting to move in immediately. Additionally, this room – befitting its name – has an attached terrace. The space’s abundant nautral light will allow a photographer to capture beautiful photos of the bridal party during and after getting ready. (And we think the terrace is a perfect spot for the after, after party at the end of the night.)
For couples looking to keep wedding guest lists on the smaller side, the total second floor dining space – which includes the Wisteria and Palmetto rooms, the Jasmine Room, Maylie’s Living Room and the balcony – can host 102 guests seated and 125 reception style. Furthermore, if you’re on the hunt for a rehearsal dinner or shower space, the rooms can be rented individually with Wisteria and Palmetto each seating 42 guests, and the first floor’s various sections up to 110 guests.
What we love about the options Copper Vine provides couples is the mix of romantic New Orleans style nestled amongst the stark iron and metal that make up most of the buildings along Poydras Street. You get a taste of the French Quarter, and the local history everyone appreciates, while not being thrust into the direct center of what can sometimes be madness – especially when trying to get transportation in and out of your venues.
It also doesn’t hurt that Chef Amy’s menu – which channels inspiration from Caribbean, European and Southern cultures – has a little something for everyone for brunch, lunch or dinner. For those just looking for a date night (or staycation) in the city, the weekday happy hour and vast wine list – plus optimal patio dining vibes – are reason enough to try out what Copper Vine is serving up these days.
