Location Spotlight: The Troubadour

If we could imagine a hotel Don Draper, fictional bad boy of AMC’s “Mad Men,” would hang out in, it would be The Troubadour. It’s ‘60s chic vibe matched with ‘70s retro touches, rich colors, plush seating and Instagram-worthy lighting and fixtures bring an Emmy-worthy environment to the Big Easy.

A former office building on the corner of Gravier and Rampart streets, The Troubadour is a stately sight to behold in the Central Business District. Blocks away from Canal Street and attractions such as The Saenger Theater, the hotel’s bars, restaurant and lounge areas offer guests and visitors the perfect spot to kick back and have a drink or continue the party. For couples looking to extend the party well after the reception is over, the hotel’s dining and bar areas have no noise ordinance and are open late.

Additionally for brides and grooms, the hotel’s many accommodations offer excellent options for any of their wedding needs.

Location Spotlight: The TroubadourOn the first floor, next to the lobby, sits chef Phillip Lopez’ new venture Petit Lion. Petit Lion offers casual bistro eats sure to please any guest. You can rent out the main dining room area, which seats 26 or 35 reception style, or the gorgeous curved bar area, which offers seating for 31 and 45 reception style.

Directly above the restaurant, on the second floor, is the lobby lounge. The lounge area includes three different section options and a bar that serves ‘60s inspired cocktails and punch-style libations. Each section can fit between 18 and 25 guests reception style.

On the same level as the lounge are the main meeting and events spaces, the Snifter room and the Highball room. Together, the areas can see a little over 100 guests reception style and 50 seated at round tables. Additionally, the Pre-Function space directly outside of the two event spaces could serve as a cocktail hour area for 48 attendees.

A growing trend among hotels in the city is taking advantage of the gorgeous city skyline and bringing a bar or restaurant up to the rooftop. The Troubadour and chef Lopez have created Monkey Board, a rooftop bar and restaurant they describe as “a food truck with a view.” Couples have the option to rent out the individual spaces of Monkey Board and continue the party with a menu created around food truck favorites. The Riverside section seats 56 comfortably with the option of accommodating 95 reception style. The Lakeside section seats 48 and holds 63 reception style. Imagine a small reception on a rooftop in the city or finish the night with food truck eats at the bar. Either way, you’re sure to experience a picture perfect view.
