BATON ROUGE, La. (press release) – The Louisiana Office of Tourism is heading to the 37th Annual Travel South Domestic Showcase in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Feb. 24-27. Travel South Domestic Showcase is the premier marketplace event in the South where more than 600 tourism professionals and journalists gather for three days of intensive meetings with the goal of delivering more visitors, spending more time and more money in the South.

“The Travel South Domestic Showcase is an important gathering that allows us to reach out to major tour operators and travel writers and encourage them to come to Louisiana for experiences they will not find anywhere else,” said Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser. “The number of visitors coming to Louisiana has increased each year for the last six years. We want to continue that momentum. The annual Travel South Domestic Showcase is a tremendous marketing event that plays a key role in our overall success.”

This regional, appointment-style marketplace offers the most targeted opportunity for tour operators and wholesalers to meet face-to-face with Southern Suppliers. The 2019 Travel South Domestic Showcase will feature a media component for the first time catering to journalists, tourism offices, destinations and attractions.

“We look forward to this event each year. We work hard to make sure tour operators have the best information available to help them create unforgettable tours in Louisiana which in turn helps them to book more travelers,” said Assistant Secretary Doug Bourgeois.

Louisiana Office of Tourism will have an expanded role this year by hosting Closing Reception ceremonies because next year’s Travel South Domestic Showcase will be held in Baton Rouge March 8-11, 2020.

“We are excited to be hosting the 2020 Showcase in Baton Rouge,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Hosting next year’s event with Visit Baton Rouge is an exceptional opportunity and we can’t wait to roll out the red carpet to our tourism leaders, partners and businesses. Everyone will find out first hand on how Louisiana will ‘Feed Your Soul’ through our incredible food, music, culture and the people of our great state.”

This will mark the second time in four years that Louisiana will host a Travel South Domestic Showcase. Shreveport-Bossier City was the host site to the 2015 Travel South Domestic Showcase.
