Joe Caldarera is giving back to his community one house at a time. As a resident of Kenner, where he was also born and raised, Caldarera purchased a parcel of land this year to turn into a residential community development. The land was the same his uncles had once owned and where Caldarera grew up hunting rabbits.
As president of J. Caldarera and Co., Caldarera has built many commercial projects and is the developer of Louisiana Trace, a residential community to be built on this property.
“He was truly inspired to give something back to the community where he grew up,” explains Tiffany Williams, marketing director of Louisiana Trace. “It was a community that gave him so much and aided in his success.”
Louisiana Trace is a subdivision that will include 175 homesites on 70 acres of land, 117 of which are ready for construction. According to Williams, it has taken four years for the land to be prepared for the construction. It was necessary to bring in fill, then let it settle and compact to create a good foundation for buyers planning to build.
While constructing the residential comm-unity, Caldarera will keep in mind what families want, making sure to offer a safe and convenient location for them. New street signs, street lights and inlaid brick at each intersection have already been built.
According to Williams, the lots are wide enough so each house “will be that much more individualized and not look like they are on top of one another.” Another characteristic Louisiana Trace offers is a tranquil walking path and a nearby park within the subdivision.
As the new year approaches, Caldarera hopes to see many families moving into their new dream homes. “It is a wonderful thing to be a part of,” Williams exclaims. And both Caldarera and Williams feel that Louisiana Trace will soon be the premier place to live in Jefferson Parish. •
