New Orleans is gearing up for Valentine's Day and Carnival, and what better way to celebrate than with a cocktail?
Flamingo A-Go-Go (869 Magazine St.) will host Galentine's Day on Friday, Feb. 15. They are celebrating women by showing chick flicks galore. You can sip on great drinks while watching "Clueless" at 7 p.m. and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" at 9 p.m. So grab your gal pals and enjoy a Rose Bowl-Quet, which is made with Absolute Pear, pink Limoncello, frozen raspberries, juices and is served in a fishbowl glass with 1/2 dozen pink roses.
The Velvet Cactus (6300 Argonne Blvd.) is hosting National Margarita Day along with several other places around town. For all of you tequila lovers, Friday, Feb. 22 from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. is the time to hit this Lakeview spot for several margarita specials and selections. Each guest who buys a margarita on National Margarita Day will receive a card for a FREE house margarita on their next visit. But, there’s a catch. You must tell your server, “Happy Mardi Gras, I need a margarita,” to get your free margarita card.
Broussard’s Restaurant (819 Conti St.) is hosting its Krewe of Bubbles Brunch in the courtyard. It’s the second year for this event and it will be a fun time celebrating bubbly, while featuring live music, champagne specials and a second line. Krewe of Bubbles Brunch will be Friday, March 1 from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. If that’s not enough excitement, you are asked to wear your CRAZIEST Carnival costume for a contest and a chance to win a “bubbly” prize. Some of the specials include Charles Roux Blanc de Blanc $6 a glass/$26 a bottle, Poema Rosé $6 a glass/$26 a bottle, G.H. Mumm $12 a glass/$52 a bottle and Veuve Cliquot $25 a glass/$100 a bottle. What a fun way to spend the afternoon, right?
Grand Krewe Wine (2305 Decatur St.) is hosting Carnival Wine Tasting. Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 3 at 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Here you’ll have what they are calling "A Beautiful Tasting Flight." During the event you’ll taste select wine, cheese, desserts, exquisite champagne and small edibles. Grand Krewe says there will be a few different champagne selections from France including a brut, blanc de blanc and rosé. A great time to enjoy sips and samples for just $25.
These are just some of the fun and festive events happening around town. If you have a fun cocktail happy hour or fun cocktail event you want us to check out, let us know so we can share it with everyone.
Cheers.
