Love is in the Air

Last month we compiled a list of romantic bars to get your Valentine’s plans moving. Well, the day is here and in case early planning isn’t your thing, we have that list again with the bars perfect for you and your special Valentine – or gal pals looking for a fun post Galentine’s Day outing.

The best thing about this list is many of these locations can turn into a spot for your rehearsal dinner, engagement party, etc.

There are also some events and specials still going on from our “Sweet Valentine” blog post. Click here to see that list again.

Bouligny Tavern

3641 Magazine St.

With more masculine decor and a gorgeous backlit bar, Bouligny gives off a sultry vibe. If James Bond were a bar, he would the Bouligny Tavern.

The Delachaise

3442 St. Charles Ave.

Cozied up right on the gorgeous St. Charles Avenue, this is more of a low-key date night spot. Drinking wine under the twinkle lights in the courtyard of Delachaise is a recipe for romance.

Cafe Amelie’s courtyard

912 Royal St.

This quintessential New Orleans courtyard is a must for locals and visitors alike. Nestled back off of the street, the hustle and bustle of Royal will feel miles away. You’ll think you’ve discovered a secret. Sit near the enormous fountain and stare into one another’s eyes while sipping cocktails and noshing on delicious fare prepared in the carriage house kitchen.

Sylvain

625 Chartres St.

Dark, chic and moody, Sylvain is a favorite among New Orleans insiders and restaurant industry folks. Sit outside surrounded by exposed brick and courtyard vibes, or inside, where the din of the other diners will drown out your sweet nothings.

Cavan – upstairs bar

3607 Magazine St.

Slip upstairs to chitchat over candlelight alone at a table near the bookshelves or at the bar. The space has low light, divine cocktails and ambiance to spare.

Oak

8118 Oak St.

Dim lighting and live music help set the mood at Oak. This chic restaurant on Oak Street allows for a quiet date night with the option to meet up with friends at the next door Ale bar.

CellarDoor

916 Lafayette St.

The low-lit lighting and dark decor sets the mood immediately when you walk in. Even a seat in the courtyard in the evening will have you cozying up under the stars.

The Sazerac Bar

130 Roosevelt Way

Quintessential New Orleans, The Sazerac Bar is a must for couples. The history alone lends an air of romance as you cozy up in the historic Roosevelt Hotel.

Extra pick From Camille Whitworth – former news anchor, owner of Victory Craft Cocktail Bar and co-writer of MyNewOrleans.com’s “Drink Up, Nola” blog.

The Elysian Bar

2317 Burgundy St.

“It’s so crazy, sexy, cool,” said Whitworth. “It’s inside a renovated old church in the Marigny and it’s a must for couple’s to check out – awesome and romantic.”
