Love & Revelry, Different This Year

It’s that time of year when we feel warm and fuzzy inside with Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras upon us. But this year is different with COVID-19 restrictions and such. Local tourism leaders say be sure to call first to see if establishments are open during this time and if they are make sure to call ahead to secure a reservation. We did find a few COVID safe activities to do in coming weeks.

Grand Krewe (2305 Decatur St.) is having a small Valentine’s toasting with sparkling rose Thursday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m. Here you can sample some delicious bubbly with Amy from Uncorked Fine Wine & Spirits. A mask is required to get in. Lets cheers to Love.

Meril (424 Girod St.) hosts happy hour Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There is a cocktail selection, wine and beer at this location. Hours are scaled back due to COVID, and during Mardi Gras they are offering food & drink to pick up and take home. This is great for those of you staying at home the next couple of weeks.

The Elysian Bar (2317 Burgundy St.) is open everyday with indoor and outdoor cocktail seating. There is also seating inside the church. There is a cocktail menu with great options and the wine selection varies from red, white and bubbly. We personally like the Elysian Sour, which is $12 and has rye whiskey, sfumato amaro, lemon and sugar. It’s a cozy place with COVID safe options. A great place for a few friends.

We hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s Day and Carnival season, safely of course. Times are different, but our cocktails don’t have to be.

Cheers!
