Loyola Songwriting Instructor Wins Lifetime Achievement Award, Pens “Wedding Song of 2020”

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Loyola University New Orleans “Craft and Business of Songwriting” instructor Jim McCormick receives a Lifetime Achievement Award and serves as keynote speaker at the Cutting Edge CE industry conference in October.

A multi-Grammy nominated songwriter based in Nashville and New Orleans, McCormick has penned songs recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr., Trisha Yearwood, Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap, Jamey Johnson, Radney Foster, Luke Bryan, Smash Mouth, and many more. In 2012, he wrote two No. 1 Billboard country chart songs, recorded by country superstars Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert.

His song “The Good Ones,” recorded by Gabby Barrett, hit Billboard’s Country Top 40 this month and has been dubbed “The Wedding Song of 2020.”

Currently signed to a publishing deal with Eclipse Music Group, McCormick, a lifelong New Orleanian, has served as board governor and vice-president for the Recording Academy and on the Nashville Songwriters Association International board.
