LPO Honors Lt. General Honoré with Crescendo Award

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is pleased to present retired Army veteran and Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré with the LPO’s 2025 Crescendo Award. This award is given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and make a transformative impact on the community. In remembrance of the 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, the LPO honors General Honoré for his leadership as commander of Joint Task Force Katrina in the aftermath of the storm charted the path for New Orlean’s recovery and restoration. On Saturday, Jan. 18, the LPO will present a musical tribute, A Tale of God’s Will (A Requiem for Katrina), in collaboration with Grammy-winning artist and New Orleans’ own, Terence Blanchard. A special award presentation for General Honoré will take place during the concert.

“We are honored to recognize General Honoré with this year’s Crescendo Award,” says LPO Executive Director Anwar Nasir. “His tireless efforts to restore the city of New Orleans strengthened and empowered our community in ways that are felt twenty years later. We are grateful for his tremendous leadership and are thrilled to celebrate him with this award.”
