NEW ORLEANS (press release) – M.S. Rau is excited to announce the opening of its new exhibition, Gardens & Grand Boulevards: H. Claude Pissarro, which will run June 16 through July 30 at 622 Royal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana and online at www.msrau.com

This will be H. Claude Pissarro’s first solo show in the United States in over 20 years, with a collection of significant works that demonstrate his continued reinvigoration of his family’s artistic legacy. The show, which is FREE and open to the public both in the gallery in the French Quarter and online at www.msrau.com, celebrates the works of one of the most important Post-Impressionist artists of our time.

Inspired by everyday life and the bustling cities and lush landscapes of his native France, Pissarro infused his art with modernity, dynamic light and vibrant color.  Now living in Ireland and still painting at the age of 87, H. Claude Pissarro continues in the artistic tradition of his family that began over 100 years ago with his grandfather, the legendary Impressionist Camille Pissarro.

H. Claude Pissarro’s work has been exhibited and collected throughout the world and he was commissioned by the White House t paint a presidential portrait of Dwight Eisenhower.  Today the artist remains as active as ever, continuing to paint with a fervent passion.   M.S. Rau celebrates his long and accomplished career in Gardens & Grand Boulevards: H. Claud Pissarro, presenting highly collectible works whose intimate size and relatable subject matter elicit pure enjoyment.
